Below is a complete list of Gaming/addiction books that have been posted as of 01/02/2019:

I know gaming addiction is not alcohol, but we the way the brain deals with gaming is very similar. Just replace alcohol with your game. It is the most successful program in the history of man with respect to addiction.

The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck.

Emet Fox has several books that were a great help to me:
The Ten Commandments
Sermon on the Mount

They sound like religious books, but they are more mystics take on the phylosophy of the bible.

Basic Text - Narcotics Anonymous

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, this is really good. All about living in the moment, covers everything.

The Four Agreements - New Age by Philosophy

Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul

Dont Sweat the Small Stuff

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle!!!

The Step Writing Guild - a step work book, that is very through and fantastic.
There is also a Book on Sponsorship, which might be call just "Sponsorship" but im not sure.

'Self Discipline in 10 days' by Theodore Bryant
A very easy to read book about increasing your productivity in your personal life as well as work. When you've finished this book, you will find it easier to say 'no' to tempting things (tv, internet, or even gaming), while doing productive stuff in the meanwhile. A must read indeed!

Goals! How to get everything you want - faster than you thought possible by Brian tracy
This book isn't written in a playfull matter as the first one. It has more quotes (who doesn't love quotes?) and tends to take the whole goal setting thing very seriously, and is an even greater motivator. If you get trough it, your life will never be the same.

Fantasy Freaks and Gaming Geeks by Ethan Gilsdorf

The Psychology of Cyberspace by John Suler, Ph.D.

The Shallows by Nicholas Carr
Basically, Carr is interested in looking at what is happening to our brains as we use the internet. Essentially, when we are online, searching the web, etc., we are programming our brains to respond in new ways - we are actually changing the physical structure of our brains. Repetitive actions online (clicking hyperlinks, or in gaming terms using the same skills repeatedly to kill mobs) changes the way we think.

Thank you for the List of

Thank you for the List of Resources. My 18 year old son is obsessed with video gaming and Internet surfing on the games. It all started with pokemon at age 7.

He lives in a gaming world where his only friend is a gamer. He also wants to be a game designer as a career. He can't seem to find any happiness outside of gaming.

Which book or resource do you recommend to begin reading 1st?

I believe the reason we

I believe the reason we become addicted to anything is because we dissociate. Anything that will allow me to dissociate from myself is a treatment for my disease. The game is jsut a symptom of the real problem, the addiction. In fact, we could argue that gaming is the current solution to the problem of addiction. Once gaming is given up for a short period, some other activity that induces a dissociative state of mind must be employed to feel connected to the real world.

The twelve steps seem to be the most effective solution to this problem. They do not give the instantaneous gratification that the addiction gives, but the long term effect is to give the addict the ability to choose whether or not they will relapse. Power of choice is the real issue for an addict.

In addition to be a

In addition to be a recovering alcoholic and addict, I have found I have this, Highly Sensitive Personality. This is part of why I like to stay home and tend to isolate which I think contributed to my gaming addiction. I hope this can help others. Plenty of help is available on the net; i.e., you don't have to buy the book as there are lots of good sites on the web with helpful articles. You can start by exploring this site.

The Anxiety & Phobia

The Anxiety & Phobia Workbook 5th ed.

I have been reading it to deal with panic attacks, but it is really great! I learn something new every time I open it. Even if you do not struggle with anxiety, the chapters on finding balance in your life, dealing with self-talk, self-esteem, dealing with emotions, learning assertiveness, etc. are all worth reading.

"The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron. This is a great guide for people in recovery who want to get back to doing artwork: writing, photography, paintings, etc. anything creative.

I love this book; bought it years ago when I was originally recovering from alcohol, and now rereading it as I recover from gaming.

Acceptance. When I am disturbed, it is because a person, place, thing, or situation is unacceptable to me. I find no serenity until I accept my life as being exactly the way it is meant to be. Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.  Acknowledge the problem, but live the solution!

I just finished reading this

I just finished reading this book: Cyber Junkie: escape the gaming and internet trap by kevin Roberts. I read it in just one day, it's 174 pages. I found it to be just what I was looking for. He is a recovered cyber addict and the book is full of great insight, advice and just very helpful in every way. I am grateful for it and I highly recommend it.

I'd like to advice you a

I'd like to advice you a great book filled with buddhism, but based on our modern world. It's a contemporary story of a man who has been dumped by his girlfriend and has lost his job. His life seems pointless, he starts to drink, he's depressed, when he unexpectedly meets the man who will change his life: "The Buddha" Geoff. He will teach him the basis and the principles of buddhism to overcome difficulties in life. It's full of funny moments and you'll easily identify yourself with the protagonist, Ed, as I did.

The book title is: The Buddha Geoff and Me, by Edward Canfor-Dumas.

"Fear is the first of many foes". "Perseverance wins".
Definitely stopped playing on May 22, 2014.
My "higher power" is the fellowship.

The Digitally Compulsive Family

The Digitally Compulsive Family – July 30, 2014

by MA John Najar (Author)

Can be purchased on Amazon

Today, with so much interaction and communication being down electronically, it seems like we are turning into uncaring, unfeeling zombies. John Najar, the author, has done an excellent job with writing and content of this book. It is easy to read, with much information and references for those seeking ideas about what we can do to help maintain "real" family and human interaction with each other, at a human level rather then though digital, inhuman means which has become so prevalent in our world today. This is a very good reference guide for those dealing with "too much" digital interaction within their family. It could also be used as a reference by educators of this digital phenomenon on human beings. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking more information and ideas about what can be done when there is too much digital interaction in their family or class or school, ore relationship. We learn how to be human by interacting with other human beings, not with digital gadgets.

2019 - "Your Son Did Not Die In Vain"

It is with great excitement that we announce the availability of “Your Son Did NOT Die in Vain”.

This is the story of what was behind the creation of OLGA. This is a book that everyone should read. Woolley's book about her son's journey into the dark depths of gaming disorder is a heartbreaking account and analysis of the progression from normal to full-blown addiction. This book captures the darkness of video gaming addiction and the details that are missing in our cultural conversation about this issue. The World Health Organization now recognizes video game addiction as a mental disorder. This diagnosis acknowledges that there is a public health and public safety crisis. Addictions manifest in a myriad of forms, but the most insidious are the socially acceptable ones. Although not every family will have their lives altered as tragically as the Woolley family, the effects of video gaming addiction are serious and devastate families worldwide. Thank you Liz for using your insight and God given strength to write a painful but clear warning to all parents of video gamers and users of other technology - cell phones, I-pods, I-pads, tablets, etc.

“Your Son Did NOT Die in Vain”  is presented in three different formats:

1) Full color 8" by10" $24.95 (purchased at Amazon ).

2021 The Toxic Dangers of Video Games

It is with greater excitement, that we announce the availability of: "The Toxic Dangers of Video Games: Things you need to know about video games and the internet."

In the past 20 years, entertaining video games and the once helpful, informative internet have been infiltrated. Today, video games are no longer created for "fun" entertainment. Many games are now designed to be addictive, to make as much money for gaming companies as possible.
The World Health Organization now recognizes gaming disorder as an addictive behavior. This diagnosis acknowledges that there is a public health and public safety crisis. Addictions manifest in a myriad of forms, but the most insidious are the socially acceptable ones. In the United States, gaming disorder is a socially accepted addiction.
With no standards, regulations, or limits, the World Wide Web is now akin to the Wild Wild West. Enter at your own risk. The Internet is now polluted with fake news, false identities, scammers, and spammers.
The effects of a gaming disorder and constant Internet and technology use are serious and can devastate lives, relationships, families, and communities. "The Toxic Dangers of Video Games" brings into the light the darkness of video gaming and technology use, which has been growing unnoticed. This book uncovers the massive entertainment industry’s greed-fueled assault on our pocketbooks, our children, our cultures, and our values, world wide. "The Toxic Dangers of Video Games" is a wake-up call of what our society is up against with recommendations of things we can do to counteract this technology onslaught.
After reading this book, hopefully, you will be challenged to evaluate your own technology use and that of your children and family. We do NOT have to become robots, as the technology industry would have it, so they can keep putting more money into their own pockets. We hope you are inspired to share this book to inform others of "The Toxic Dangers of Video Games".
This book is written by Liz Woolley who is accredited in the Information Technology field since 1986 - before the internet and personal computers, Liz, with John's encouragement, uses her insight and God-given strength to write a clear warning to all parents, children, community support members, video gamers, and technology users.

"The Toxic Dangers of Video Games: Things you need to know about video games and the internet." is available in full color 8x10 for $29.99 purchased at Amazon. Click here to go to the Amazon link.
