No meetings yet in Metro Detroit. Closest and only meeting is in London, Ontario, over 100 miles away. Try posting here to connect with others who are interested in meeting in the Detroit area. Maybe start a new thread.

Hi All, I'm new to olganon

Hi All, I'm new to olganon but have many years experience with the 12 step program. For a number of years, however, video game addiction had taken hold. I haven't played any games since 9/26/08 and am interested in face to face meetings in the Detroit Metro area (I live in Ann Arbor). odaat (One Day At A Time)

I also live in Ann Arbor and I think that this city would be a great place to get a regular meeting schedule started since this is a college town and there are many people here who would benefit. Feel free to get a hold of me, I'm pretty new to this website, but I think I read somewhere that my email is available. thanks

From his website, the only meetings I saw were ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) meetings.

Kevin Roberts is giving a

Kevin Roberts is giving a presentation in Ann Arbor on Sept 21 (12:00-1:30pm) titled, "AD/HD and the Cyber Junkie" at Rackham Auditorium (915 E. Washington St). Information on the event from the University of Michigan's website (http://events.umich.edu/event/6035-1133006/group/1203):

Kevin Roberts began his computer gaming obsession in Angell Hall's computer lab. In the ten years following graduation from the University of Michigan in 1993, he racked up 14,000 hours of "recreational" game time. He held down a job, but spent most of his free time in front of a computer screen. Support and intervention from friends finally got him to control his cyber behaviors.

Kevin Roberts draws on personal and professional experiences with cyber addictions to take audiences deep into the world of the cyber addict, examining the issues that underlie compulsive urges. Discussed are warning signs, tools to deal with this addiction, and strategies to ensure that the problem does not take root in the first place, especially with those with AD/HD who are at particularly high risk.

Kevin Roberts is currently an AD/HD coach, director of curriculum for the EmpowerADD Project, and a leader of support groups for those with cyber addictions. His clients include professional athletes, college professors, and teenagers. One of his cyber group members, an excessive texter, will be featured later this fall on MTV's show, True Life.
