Hello, I have spoken at length with Jacob. This post is for meetings. He thinks it is important to meet face-to-face and to get out and away from the computer, tv, etc. Liz
Time. Time. time. Time. thats all i ever heard in my 29 years time this patience that. Like i only started being in pain ****ing yesterday. Im about through... Update: Everything is fine now. I got through it and we are still doing meetings here in San Diego. FTW!
Hey guys tomorrow is the big day were we make this dream a reality. I have worked with liz at length. I will not be attending the temecula meetings. They are too far away, and my classes always start at 6pm on thursdays. This is why you have never seen me at a temecula meeting. Therefore i am following my higher power and started a group conscience in San Diego. I have also agreed to lead the chapter here as well. If you would like to come down here Mudd and visit we would be happy to have you. Many other addicts have already told me they will be attending. We welcome anyone to attend our meetings. I have readings approved and ready to go, people willing to attend, A solid meeting place, time , and the means to pay the rent declining outside contributions. I welcome you mudd to come down here to the serenity shop in clairmont and see how we do things here in san diego.
This is such exciting news, Jake and Liz!!! Thank you both for doing this! I'm way over here in Texas, so I won't be there, but know that I'm cheering everyone on in spirit.

Acceptance. When I am disturbed, it is because a person, place, thing, or situation is unacceptable to me. I find no serenity until I accept my life as being exactly the way it is meant to be. Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake. Acknowledge the problem, but live the solution!
Hi Patria, I don't know how far you are from this meeting, but it would be great if you could go to the first one, to support Jacob. I know he would appreciate you being there. Liz
I really wish I lived there to go to that meeting. I'm just too far away (200 miles).
Hang in there; it will happen.
Hugs
This.

How was the first meeting? I was working and unable to support.
The first meeting was a success. Remember its saturday at 430 pm 4740 clairemont mesa blvd, san diego, CA, 92117. Everyone is welcome. I will be setting up more meetings and multiple events soon. Tell your group conscience about us.
That would be wonderful! We have very detailed instructions about setting up a chapter in your area. Jacob was very diligent and used those instructions. Here is a link to that: http://www.olganon.org/?q=starting_a_local_chapter
If you have more questions, please call me on the hot-line. I have spoken with Jacob in-length, supporting him with this endeavor.
Heres how i did it: First i prayed to my higher power for help and guidance. Next i picked a day out of my week that i was consistently bored or not busy. Then I prayed again. Next i approached the owner of the place and asked to speak with them. I told them when they had thier extra room avalable and how much they would like rent to be for that time. A good thing to try to do is to find out were AA and NA are having thier meetings and try to scoot yours were they are having them on that day. Then i worked with liz wooly and cross referenced my material that i created (Pray for god to guide your thoughts and writing). I have a printer, notebooks, brief case or equvilent. I took two foam boards and wrote my meeting at the entrance to the driveway or parking lot so people who drive by can see. I made all relevent reading material. I worked over the phone with liz. Got confidence and did it. The last stages was i made flyers and passed them around. I was prepare to have a dead meeting. I did not have too high of expectations, and most importantly i prayed to my higher power to guide me through the whole process. You can email about details as things come up. It will not be an all at once thing. Expect a good week or month to put it all together. Reherse reherse reherse. Time your readings and read them out loud. have a mock meeting with yourself. It is difficult but worth it and you will learn a lot. Good luck and keep in contact with me. Jacob.
I will pray for you meeting Jacob. What a great thing you have done!
I have a special place in my heart for San Diego - I spent a week there for a trade show when I was newly sober some 20 years ago. I met some awesome people with good sobriety and they invited me to their house and we hung out and went to meetings every night after work.

Ok im just giving people a heads up Feb 23rd there WILL NOT be an olga meeting that day as i have found noone to secretary it. I am going on a retreat and will not be able to be there to unlock the door. Nor can i trust anyone with my key yet. Olga will resume march 2. 430 pm same bat time same bat channel. See ya there!
I am a mother of a severely addicted 16 year old. We are desperate in finding a treatment program. Our son is very ill. We want to attempt intervention but are unsure how. Our son becomes violent if the computer is removed or touched. He was a straight A Honor student, a good child, that is now failing school, has physical ailments, threatens suicide, and is going to be locked up by the court without assistance for the addiction. We know of a Dr. that developed a device, the PC moderator that attaches to the computer to help him. This may not work, so we need other options. What are your suggestions? Is there an intervention team to assist? Our family will go anywhere for assistance. Is there any program in the world where our son can be treated specifically for computer addiction? Our son has a psychologist and a psychiatrist though continues to worsen. I love my son so very much and this is so painful to see him suffering as he is unable to help himself at this time. Thankyou, Deborah
Please Private Message me. We live in the same town. I have experienced much of what you are going through. I would be happy to tell you what we did and give you additional infomation for resources in our area. My son is currently in a treatment program.
I was also a rager and i did get angry and violent when anything would pull me away from my games and when i was his age. I still got angry and violent at my games even when i was an adult. That PC moderator thing looks like a gimmick. As for treatment centers. There may or may not be. However i have talked at length about these issues. Here is my educated opinion. The Video gaming industry is a multi billion dollar business I highly doubt corperate america is going to sacrifice those dollar bills to save some families. It is very sad so that means the health care industry who makes money from our diseases and sickness would be resistant to calling video games a medical treatment problem due to the fact of the media and economic fallout that would or might ensue if regular insurance funded treatment centers were to fund video game addiction. It is sad, but this is the country we live in. We live in a country controlled by addiction and vices. My personal view on this is first to ask him what he wants. What im about to say you may not like but it needs to be said for his sake. When i was exhibiting that behavior it was because i did not feel love from the outside world. All i cared about was escaping my reality and ignoreing the world around me so i didnt have to live it. People are loathe to acknowledge thier part in a bad situation. When I was that age I did not want to live my life because i thought the world around me was violent and cruel, i was afraid of the world and i hated it. Video games were my sanctuary away from the world i felt i was forced to live in. I felt like i was serving a prison term in a life i didnt want. I did not feel love or caring from the outside world. When i would complain i felt the world invalidated my feelings by telling me to snap out of it. There is no snapping out of the ball of string tied up in knots that is my emotions and feelings as a gamer. I had to learn to feel my feelings and express them one day at a time. There was no INSTANT FIX to my problem. It was also not 100% my problem. However it was subconciously and largely my problem. He has to deal with his feelings instead of going to games to not feel them. I am not in any position to give anyone medical or expert advice. Psychiatry did not work for me. medicine did not work for me. Moderation certainly did not. There is only one thing that helped me and that is working the 12 steps with a sponsor but more importantly I came to believe and become willing to work those steps. That is the only thing that allowed me to nearly go a year without the horror and terror I put myself through. I want you to understand this, because only with the support of others who understand him is really going to truly recover or even want to through this. It has to be his descision. You cannot make it for him. Ask him if he wants to quit and if he does have him call my number I would be happy to talk to him. im available 24/7 to gamers.

Hey guys its been a few weeks since i posted here last. I just wanted everyone to know I posted a new general discussion topic called "What works" It is my hardcore white knuckle story and step by step guide from my perspective to breaking the 30 day stretch to get unplugged as a new comer with as little unnessesary pain as can be avoided. I did everything that i put down in there. I got unplugged. I am still unplugged.
We also are in the process of changing webservers. I do not know all the details, but our trusted servants are talking about positive change. If you would like to help or donate to our cause please feel free we can use all the help we can get. However just remember as always the 3rd tradition states that the only requirement for membership is the desire to stop playing video games. Thank you for letting me be of service!!

Hey i just want to remind everyone who visits this. If you want to ask me something about anything. The most effective way to get a hold of me is to call my number on the front post of this topic. The least effective way to get a hold of me is to post on the forum and wait for an answer. So if you want help or you want to talk fellowship with me you need to call me and leave a message, thanks. Remember my number is on the front of the page and its current.

Isn't there a place to go for addicted computer followers in SF or the bay area?
Hi,
I live in OC, and my bf is actually the one who is a gamer (possibly an addict). How many friends of gamers attend your meetings?
Thanks.
How many are active now in SD? If I want to send someone your way, who should I put them in touch with?
Is there still a active group in San Diego, I'm looking for a group in SD.
Jako / Jacob moved to another state. I don't think there's anyone keeping the group going in SD. You could PM him to get more info.
