4th day of being clean report

today was my 4th day of being clean . i finnaly took my car to the shop for maintenance , getting the ability to live and do choirs with less effort by effort i mean feeling free and not bored, scared tierd using any excuse to run away from my duties ... . the mechaninc said it will take 3-4 hours to fix the car . i went out to buy some stuff and came back 2 hours left to get my car i went and sat down on a chair in the management area of the shop to w8 . where i pulled out my phone and opend the section where there is sudoku puzzles and started to play .after a couple of minutes i realized that im not suppose to game any more but i wasent sure if sudoku counted to so i said ill come and share this with my fellow addicts see what u think because i dont trust my own judgement on these matters frankly im not gonna play games on my phone any more but the pressing question is getting a hobby .i closed the phone and asked the creator of the universe to help im hoping this does not count as a relapse :D .

a question i was wondering is can i play Chess ? i dont think playig chess on the pc online is a good idea , but theres this chess club id love to join although im scared of this being me trying to fool my self and finding a loophole ?

also when i was sleeping i sensed this with more strengh i dont know if u guys feel this aswell or not i feel like im connected to somthing great thats helping me was strange but great feeling . well thats my report i guess taking it a day at a time fixing my life .

Hi Amir, Congrats on your

Hi Amir,

Congrats on your being clean. Also good about your feelings of strength.

I think when it comes to gaming, each person has their own 'bottom line'. I met a woman here at olganon who was addicted to online chess. For others it may be a way of challenging their intellect.

Face to face chess seems ok to me. But you will get a better idea if it is a trigger as your recovery progresses. Soduko on your phone, not.

To me, any game online could

To me, any game online could get me into the games I was addicted to. In fact, it's just the total idea of online gaming that is the addiction for me.

Board games, chess, checkers, Monolopy, I don't have a problem with those, and never did. But to some people it is also a problem.

During my early months I didn't game at all, online or offline, to give myself to get out of the whole gaming life.

Monopoly can be an addiction

Monopoly can be an addiction too, same with chess. If you find yourself playing to escape and forget and just 'switch off' then that's probably it. Another clue is if you meant to play one game and end up playing five. What about something that's physically strenuous? Like cycling or tennis? Since unlike online/board games this stuff gets the body going, it would improve your mood, generally relax you etc.

One big difference with

One big difference with board games: They are played with other people.

It's just not possible for me to "escape" or "switch off" when playing with other people. I don't go into the gaming fog; it's the opposite of the gaming fog. It's laughing, joking, telling stories and being connected with friends or family while the game is going on. The game just gives us a context for enjoying one another's company. It's the opposite of the social and physical isolation of sitting in my roon by myself and clicking.

Everyone is different. If the board game has art or strategy or content that triggers you, then you have to avoid it. But if it's a healthy way of connecting with people.....

I am a recovering computer game and gambling addict. My recovery birthday: On May 6, 2012 I quit games and began working a program of recovery through OLGA No computer games or slot games for me since December 12, 2012. No solitaire games with real cards since June 2013.

im done escaping , its time to kick ass and chew bubble gum :)) but in real life and by ass i mean my own selfish ness as tommi said last night . (that sounded wrong :)) ) im having withdrawls in my brain aswell cut me some slack for the typos .

Amir, Do not forget to be

Amir,

Do not forget to be kind to yourself and pat yourself on the back when you did good. It is too easy for us to criticize ourselves. We are not perfect. We cannot be perfect. Only God is perfect. But if we understand our faults, accept them and begin working on one fault at a time, and to be of service to those less fortunate than ourselves - this is the best that we as humans can do.
