Interesting Article on "Upworthy.com" on China treating internet Addiction

I wanted to let people know that "Upworthy.com" posted an article on their site and Facebook page on China treating internet addiction. This was posted yesterday by Adam Albright-Hanna. It was interesting because it talked about China classifying this an an actual disorder & addiction. In addition, they discussed the root causes and extreme behavior that addicts engage in. There is also hundeds of comments that ranged from denial to support. Definately worth a read!

Thank you for posting

Thank you for posting this.

I watched the video.

How China Deals With Internet-Addicted Teens Is Kind Of Shocking. And Maybe A Good Idea? Adam Albright-Hanna

The idea of treating a teen for an "addiction" to the Internet may seem a bit silly. But as this video shows, it goes way beyond some kid texting too much at dinner. Debilitating compulsive behavior can be destructive in whatever form it takes, even if it's in digital form. But while the fact that China's addressing the problem head-on seems like a good idea, the slightly barbaric and harsh way in which they're going about it probably wouldn't work too well in the U.S. (and it remains to be seen if it even works there).

***Trigger warning: This video contains clips from games.***

It made me cry.  I'm so

It made me cry. I'm so saddened that young people feel lonely or so pressured in life that they need to escape. I wish circumstances could be different.

It is so sad for everyone

It is so sad for everyone involved. I think it is good that the director of this program is trying to connect parents with the children. Being a parent in this era is by no means an easy task. Being a child with all the pressure of the competition is equally difficult. God help us all!
