Hi I'm a documentary filmmaker based in New York. I have a family member undergoing serious video game addiction, so this is a subject matter that is quite personal to me. I think it is a real addiction and that recognizing it as such is important so that people going through this can be taken seriously. I also think advocating for a balanced lifestyle is a message a lot of young people need to hear and one that can only come from an insider whose experienced this sort of addiction themselves and understands what that really means. I am looking for current or recovering gaming addicts in the NY/NJ or DC area who would be willing to take part in this documentary and share their story. This can be done completely anonymously as well.
I am currently developing a documentary short that will be 3-4 minutes long, shot entirely on an iPhone camera, and be part of a competition I am entering for Jigsaw Productions, where I currently work. If selected, the short would be posted on their website, and social media pages (facebook & twitter). In addition, I would hope to show the short on other platforms in order to extend the reach of the story.

Hello, I am Atrium, and I am addicted to an online game called MapleStory. Sorry, but this is the first day I joined OLGA, so I cannot tell as much about me or the experiences with videogames in here.
First, here is a bit about me. I am currently some hardcore gamer and I took me two to three years of playing this popular online game to realize that I am addicted to it. In real life, I happen to have a masculine and built physique, yet I usually prefer to be alone and I have very little friends at my local college. I have normally been a shy person lately.
I can tell you about the dangers of being a hardcore gamer, and yes I started off as a casual gamer. I want to help not myself, but any community around me as well to hopefully not having to experience the same problems as I did. Unfortunately, I do not live in your area and I live in Texas, but I wish I could help.
