I am looking for help. My parents have been telling me that I have a problem, and that I need to do something about it. When I am not playing games, or if my ability to play games is taken away, I start to get depressed, sometimes leading to thoughts of suicide. I have no idea what to do, and the video games are slowly destroying my life. Any ideas as to what I should do would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John
Welcome John, you're not alone. I've been there. Others have been there.
Come to some meetings and listen. It really does help to know other people have been where you are and have changed their lives for the better. I had major problems with depression too. I used games to cope with stress and difficulties.

It's fine to just listen at a meeting. You don't have to talk. Maybe you could ask your question there. People seem more than happy to share their experiences and insights.
Welcome John
I'm glad you are here. These bad feelings are commonly experienced by people in withdrawal. Excessive video gaming is known to cause or make worse mental health problems. the good news is that you can recover after a period of time of staying quit.
You can find support from people similar to yourself. ALso I would encourge you to share your concerns with your parents or a medical professional so they can support you as you go through the process of quitting if you decide to do this.

Hello John,
I think you are lucky that your parents are stopping you from gaming. Don’t underestimate how damaging gaming could be to some people like us. I encourage you to start reading sticky parts of the forum. Nothing is as helpful as coming to the meeting and talk to others who has the same problem.
