Sorry you're having a hard time getting connected. I usually attend mumble meetings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 5:30-6:00 PST and there are always people attending.
A lot of the time you can just leave the program running and someone might pop in and you can talk with them.

If you have an urge to game, and you don't want to game, sell your consoles, it should basically ruin your ability to game as a weak computer or laptop will not be an enjoyable experience. As to talking to someone online, It is good to connect with someone and talk about issues, it can help someone, like yourself, to feel liberated and relaxed towards the idea.
