Hi Seoul and welcome to Ola. It was very difficult for me to stop my gaming too. It took me over a year and the intervention of my Higher Power to help me finally do it. I think mobile games are the same as computer ones or any other handheld gaming devices. I don't allow myself to play any electronic games at all, as I know they will suck me back in.
Would it be possible to leave your phone with a friend, at least until you get your papers written? Perhaps you could get just a cheap phone, in the mean time, that won't allow games. It sounds like it's rather important to you to get those papers written. Once you get those papers out of the way and get your phone back, you could possibly find a sponsor and go through the 12 steps. Or some people find that just becoming a part of the community here can help them stay game-free. I wish you luck.

Thank you for your suggestion and reminding me my priority, Silvertabby. That sounds like a good strategy. I will give my phone to my roomate till I finish the papers. I will come back to do 12 steps and other programs once this semester is done.. I already tried the 10pm daily online meeting once, and pretty interested in 12 steps and face to face meetings in NYC chapter as well. Hope all of those work for me soon.
Thanx again! :)
welcome seoul
for now maybe it would be possible to downgrade from the phone you have for a flip phone?
i don't think the problem is your phone however,
the fact that i had to game 8 hours a day, even when i was busy and binge game for days on weekends, wasn't because there was a game on my pc,
it was because i needed to game,
btw, i have tried not gaming many many times, and switching from 1 game to another,
but until i change myself, the primary problem is still here

Hi Seoul,
Welcome to OLGA. I can relate to your situation. While working on my graduate degree, there was a lot of stress from unrealistic expectations and loneliness because of the new environment. So I would play games to escape.
Only thing to try is to keep a browser window open to this website on your smart phone. Whenever you feel like playing the game, come here and read a few posts instead.

Hi Seoul,
good idea's
I left a hand held game behind once, of course you can't do that with a phone but getting a cheap little thing that you can;t have games on for some time is a good idea too.
Me too I was escaping from stress of havign to do things that I thought I couldn't/didn't want to do.
Blessings

first stopped, end of December 2010, a few short relapses. Then I got it, NO more relapses....... never again......, game free since December 1st, 2011. Thanks Olga.... one more relapse on phone, one week of hell in 2014
They say, Seoul, you can't win if you don't enter. But with gaming, you can't play when there is no game. Since you aren't using PC games, but the phone ones, I too suggest you downgrade to a cheap flip phone without a screen. Use the phone as a phone and call it "done".
Look forward to seeing you around doing your step work AFTER the papers are done!
Best,
ElizA
.Left the games behind Tuesday, March 28, 2011...I have a new left knee and a lot more appreciation for the word "recovery"....blessings come in the darndest forms!
.
During my excessive gaming I contemplated getting a smart phone with all those wonderful games available, so I could play non-stop everywhere!
Good thing I kept my old flip phone, the one where all i can do is text someone.
Anyway, a game is a game, no matter what platform it's on.
Get that cheap phone!
Oh I really appreciate all your warm comments, hirshthg, cjl, Mumukshu, ElizabethA, Patria. After reading your reply, I feel much better and empowered already.. Thanx to your advice and wishes I could concentrate more on my stuff today :)
I logged in again just to say this community's real-time peer support really works well. Hope I can give the same help to other newbies someday.. Anyway, poor students should log off and get back to work.. See you around~!
Cheers,
