It's good to have goals and dreams, but while you're waiting for things to change, waiting for promises to come to pass, don't be discontent with where you are. Learn to enjoy the season that you're in--Pastor Joel Osteen
I've never heard of forum games. For me, the *only* games that I consider safe are games that I play with other people which involve lots of interacting with them, and only in real life. No online bridge or chess like I used to. No sudokus at home (I'll let myself do one on the plane to keep from going crazy, but I don't take it with me for later if I can't solve it there). No solitaire even with real cards. No TV by myself at all. No puzzles by myself unless it's a way to just "hang out with dad" where we're each doing one and asking each other about clues. I try to limit You Tube to TED talks, addiction talks, AA talks and the like, although I'll allow myself the occasional TV show and probably shouldn't. I don't surf the web, I don't chat except with other recovering addicts, I don't do any forums except OLGA, I don't follow the news, online or on TV (doesn't help me with my work or my relationships or my recovery and those are my priorities now).
That's not you, that's me. Because I'm a procrastinating, anxiety-filled, bipolar, probably ADD, time-wasting addict. If I knew about a way to play games by myself while driving, I'd abuse it. So I call family members and members of the fellowship instead.
I guess my point is that we each have to decide what's healthy for ourselves and what's not.
Hugs.

Been game clean since the 21st of February 2014. Getting there day by day!
Today is where we all begin, the rest is still unwritten!
I don't want to have spent hours on a stupid game on my last day of life!
Private Message me, I'm eager to hear your story!!! :D
20 minutes and counting!!! wrote admin to delete my account. hoping to keep busy this weekend and avoid that "wake up and automatically login and see how my island is doing" urge. The Settlers Online will no longer be sucking my time.
Also, congrats to everyone here that has made the choice to heal.
We're glad you found us. May I suggest trying to attend some meetings and perhaps posting your story in the "I need help for gamers" forum? Meetings and posting on the forum have both been helpful for me, and they're a relatively easy place to start. Taken alone they aren't enough for me, but they helped me to be able to do the other things that I now do (in addition to meetings and posting), and they still play an important part in helping me not play that first game today. Hugs...

This is a community of recovering addicts, people who were very sick, and some who still are very sick. The focus that some members have taken is sharing their story including how much they gamed, and what gaming took from them, as well as getting better, which includes what they have done in the way of their recovery. While we celebrate the miracle of our recovery, we need to forget about yesterday and tomorrow, and focus on doing the work, today.
Other gamers think that they can stay quit from games by hanging out in a gaming community and playing forum games such as count ups, role playing and online drama.
Let me gently suggest that you stick with the people doing the former and not the later.
I welcome you to share your story, and recover along side us, one day at a time.

Hey, If quitting was easy, everyone would have done it.

Game free since 12am,, 1/15/14 A little humbler
Welcome back Tiered-of-losing. Have you ever heard of forum games? It may be the reason why it feels good to count up.
As for being game free I hope to see you around and share your experience.
