Tensions. The period after detoxing

Hi Olga.

I think now I feel detoxed completely a new phase started. I learned to relax. And the more relaxed I get, the more tensed I feel, especially in the morning. The worst part of that seems over and I feel I improve.

My theory , and what I have read , is that when my relaxation gets deeper, my mind is not used to that level. The differemce of stress that my mind is used to and the stress level I maintain, seems translated into feeling of tension.

I think this is the key process that many of us make us quit. Simply as we get exhausted, we come into high tension levels - eventualy leading to burn out symptoms. Our body forcing us to do less activities, and all we can do is obey.

It could be cortisol levels in the blood are still way too high, but all I can do , is wait till this gradually drops, and allow it to drop. Eventually this will lead to full recovery although setbacks will occur from time to time.

this is the hard part! the

this is the hard part!

the detox may be intense, but now the real world steps in, and learning to adjust to it is a long unending process.

i wish i could know exactly what t he trouble is, but all i can do is let you know, "i know how you feel"

it is really crud...

good luck with it. have fun making it work

Thanks Hirsh. Shared pain is

Thanks Hirsh. Shared pain is half the pain. I am really happy you confirm this as I know do not feel alone , or strange. I think many of us feel this too.

It explains many have a process of stress. Stress keeps us gaming even when we do not want to game..because stress demands action.

I make a joke now. If I knew quiting was so hard, I would never have quit..but now I am half way..I make it to the end :)

Thats kidding as in the end our bodies simply give up gaming, as we are not even able too. That is exactly why moderation fails. All action that lead to many stress...must end and replaced by relaxing part.

I read that when people start to relax the first weeks tension increases...when detox is over...and then it gets better again....pfff.. I need to keep coming back ...maybe we need to put in a post quit stress forum where people can talk about the stress coming free weeks after quiting.....

the problem is that the

the problem is that the stress is so subtle, most of the time we don't even feel it is there.

and when we do feel it, there isn't any "good" explanation why we have it. So we end up just ignoring it until it exploding in a inappropriate direction.

gl hf and thanks for the good post

I think it feels great when

I think it feels great when we get more tension then we used too. That is good stress.

But then we continue and continue stress beacuse it feels so good...that is become addictive on its own. Then our body say after a long while : STOP(exhausted)

Then we stop and cannot do, so we analyze all that causes stress, and we quit that. Gaming is one of them Then we relax, but now the stress is BELOW what we used to , and then we are under_stressed and rested. This feels as tension. The problem gets when we relax faster then our body can recover...then the pressure of tension gets bigger - even while we restore. We feel bad but that is good. The problem is the body is used to a doses of stress but slowly it must degrade that addiction. The stress addiction of the body is harder to beat then the dopamine addiction from the gaming and the mind. That takes only 6 weeks. Stress addiction recovery ( its not really addiction but let us call it that way) ..can take much longer.

I think I understand why my psychologist told me not to overdo Yoga. he may fear that my tension will increase and wants me to maintain some stress. It is true. When I have a litlle stress..then the sensation of tensions are gone.

The tensions are worst at breakfast...and disappear through the day.

I only hope people recognize this and get strength when having it too, Please keep posting

I think I understand what

I think I understand what you're saying, EVE. All I know right now is that I have no desire to game whatsoever, but I have a very strong desire to get a good feeling to counter the grind.

Acceptance. When I am disturbed, it is because a person, place, thing, or situation is unacceptable to me. I find no serenity until I accept my life as being exactly the way it is meant to be. Nothing happens in God’s world by mistake.  Acknowledge the problem, but live the solution!

Hi EVE, I have to admit I

Hi EVE,

I have to admit I have trouble following your reasoning. If you feel stressed in the morning you may be suffering from morning anxiety, see http://anxiousnomore.blogspot.com/2007/08/more-about-morning-anxiety.html. It seems like it is at least in part caused by biology: low bloodsugar levels in the morning. Not sure but you may want to watch what you eat (or see a doctor).

Take care.

Perhaps a man who is worthy of the name should put aside this question of how long he will live ..., and turn his attention to this instead, to how he can live the best life possible in the time that is granted to him

VP, Gettingalife Thanks for

VP, Gettingalife

Thanks for your concerns. my body is ok, been tested often an all seems to work great.

The bloodsugar theory almost hits the spot. When awakening cortisol levels are highest. And I feel my cortisol levels in my blood are still very high. Cortisol is highest when awakeniing, activates us human beings, and then drops throughout the first two hours and then slowly drops the entire day. As soon the sun sets other hormones makes us feel sleepy. In Winter wakening for the suns comes up can be stressful. At Summer more sun leads to more cortisol. ( I live very northerly what means the sun is there till after 10 PM in the evening during June/July.)

But what I did was I had stress before. But the gaming countered the feeling of stress, or better; emotional exhaustion. Now the gaming is gone, and the effects of gaming wore off, its like a cork jumpoing from a champaign bottle shaken badly. The Cork is the gaming, the champaign is the stress, brought to emotional exhaustion. And the bottle is my body, trying to flush it out.

As my mind is now relaxed and looking for emotional balance. My body is not like that. What I tried to say is when the mind is at rest and the body is not, it is fealt as negative tensions. I feel great when the day progresses, or when I get into a somehat stressful situation.

My symptoms are currently : frozen and painful nech and shoulders ( burning) Underbelly stress, trembling of the chest - somwhat anxiety ( but not to bad) I have been surpressing negative stress for 25 years by playing video games so my mind stress reached the same level of2 body stress...what is wrong per default, And now for the first time I choose not to do this. This means I need to recover now from what is called emotional exhaustion, and this process is hard, I think people who had a stressful life or suffered much frustration over the last years - may experience the same as soon the gaming stops,

take care.

WOW!!! I had no idea there was such a thing as that; I've suffered from that for YEARS!!!!

Thank you for sharing this; isn't it amazing when the answers come to questions not even asked, but relate 100%.

I usually do my journaling, meditation and prayer in the morning, which tends to overturn the anxiety. But will look at food too!

Pat.. to be sure ..both can

Pat.. to be sure ..both can be measured (blood sugar and cortisol)

It is normal that after long periods of stress the cortisol levels in blood can be 10 tmes normal value. and then when wakening ,,,when bloodsuger is low as normal and cortisol increases...with your already high levels in blood this is then experienced as anxiety... its important to know what causing what...but cortisol causes anxiety - tensions - stress in the morning.

great link. Yes I feel since

great link. Yes I feel since I practice yoga my urges to check email every 5 minutes are completely gone. And last week I was able to repair al major outages in 15 minutes...as I remembered in details what I did last time. I stopped surfing intermet, but now I get a stronger feeling of disliking internet.

At the moment I do it after work. And I work with Yoga on my shoulders and neck. My right shoulder is fully blocked what can cause headeaches and dizzyness..My headaches are gone...but the shoulders need a lot of work..

Great Pat you are on Yoga too. It also improves the condition and hapiness. I felt true hapiness this week for the first time in months.

Thanks for the article,

Thanks for the article, Patria. I'm so sold on the benefits of meditation. It's icing on the cake to have this good habit validated. "Prayer is when you talk to God; meditation is when you listen to God." I love the conversation.
