This article at http://gizmodo.com/...">http://gizmodo.com/5062237/world-of-warcraft-seems-like-kind-of-a-silly-... starts off with:
Quote:World of Warcraft player/dorkmaster supreme Prepared has caved to his smack addiction-like dependence on WoW and created 36 separate accounts that he plays simultaneously on an epically ridiculous rig. He claims to spend over $5700 per year just on the game, and plans to pick up 36 copies of the new expansion pack Wrath of the Lich King when it's released.
Later, it also says that:
Quote:Prepared's setup features a whopping seven separate laptops, four desktops hidden away under the desk, and an array of screens that's disorienting even in a static image. He might be the only person on earth who's capable of using the 15-button mouse. Prepared claims that $5700 a year is reasonable for a hobby, and he's totally right. I can think of at least three hard drugs that would be more expensive.
The picture in the article really helps to show how far this person has gone. Although I have read quite a few reports about how far some people go, this is the most extreme example that I have encountered so far.

The question is....will you be able/courageous/adult enough to sacrifice that which merely pleases you...for that which will truly fulfill you? That is the question of personal growth.

I used to marvel at two-boxers in EverQuest. Then, in WoW I discovered three-boxers. I have even heard of four-boxers, but the rationality of that goes beyond my comprehension. Most likely due to my age. I was schooled in "old math" and when I was in my university I studied Fortran and Cobal. I dreamed of a universe that became the virtual reality found in MMO's. That is why I find that walking in WoW or EQ is solely the most exciting thing I can do while playing, and thats what keeps me in the game, the world, the 3-D world in gaming. I guess that there are eight-boxers and such, but I would never comprehend someone utilizing more than even ten accounts at once. I would believe it, but not undestand it.

When even the most compulsive WoW players on the planet (hundreds of comments so far) tell you you're in over your head, I think you should listen. This guy has enough processor power at his fingertips to cure cancer... twice!

ddduuuuddeee....like, seriously. 0.0 I mean, that is insane.
Until we are tested, how do we know if we will pass?
Since I have never played WoW, or any other MMORPG, I don't know how much minimal attention and focus it takes per account to play. However, even if it only requires a fairly minimal amount, having 36 accounts being played by one person is absolutely amazing! It is certainly something that I don't think that I could do. This person must have some amazing powers of concentration, focus and ability to multi-task. If he were to apply those skills to other things instead, like a job as an executive, he likely could become very successful. It is such a waste that so many talented individuals, like this one, are not applying their skills and knowledge to do things like helping to solve some of the world's myriad problems, or even just simply helping themselves and those close to them.

Well sad to admit, that I two boxed EQ for almost 2 years. Was more challenging to run two at a time so it kept me "engaged". I had a friend who 4 boxed quite a bit (he did it with 4 PC's and a KVM) I also ran into at least one "farmer" that 4 boxed to level up 4 accounts at same time to be able to sell them...

I used to run three Eve Online accounts on two computers at the same time. I had a huge battleship, a miner and a freighter in potentially dangerous zones, keeping me safe so I could gather minerals. This guy's rig could seriously do amazing multimedia, film editing... he could start a career if he quit gaming and got some training.

****! I can't even comprehend the amount of concentration you would need to run 36 accounts similtaneously. I wonder what his electricity bill is like and how screwed up his eyes are? From the comments I noticed one quote that I thought was good :D Polybius 7:35 PM on Sat Oct 11 2008 "How do you kill that which has no life?"
omg that scares me. if i had the knowledge and resources that would of been me. i am no better with my addiction. I hope one day he posts here. ((recovery))) dawn

late posting (Hi guys!) My friend told me he isn't the only one. This multiboxing is mutating into a sport for these people. $5700 a year? This isn't worthy of being a hobby.
