Leveling in Real Life
Thanks so much, everybody.A I am sending them off to my son with his letter tomorrow.A I think he'll enjoy and appreciate every one of them.A Now that he's got some time on his hands he's playing basketball, running some laps and becoming a voracious reader. I tried to start out with some inspiration combined with humor.A He calls us his Parentals and he has told us that he is struggling a bit with the Higher Power thing.A I made some adjustments to these two poems and they'll be the first page. Butt Prints in the Sand aEU" SonaEU(tm)s Path to Boarding School One night I had a wondrous dream,
Two sets of footprints there were seen,
The footprints of my precious parentals,
But mine were not along the soil. But then some stranger prints appeared,
And I asked the parentals, "What have we here?"
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But parentals, they are too big for feet." "Our child," they said in somber tones,
"For years we carried you alone.
We challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made us wait." "You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know.
So we got tired, we got fed up,
and there we dropped you on your butt." "Because in life, there comes a time,
when one must fight, and one must climb.
When one must rise and take a stand,
or leave their butt prints in the sand." Footprints in the Sand aEU" SonaEU(tm)s Road to Recovery One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with his Higher Power.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
one belonging to him, and the other to his Higher Power. When the last scene of his life flashed before him he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned his Higher Power about it: "Higher Power, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." His Higher Power replied:
"My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
