Hey there,
After a successful period I always get a dull period. Then I need something life avoiding.
I accept this :) Now I search an addictive self destructive activity that "works best".
I tried games, booze, drugs, television and excessive sports. Gaming had the most negative impact and telly/drugs the fewest. I quit drugs so that falls off the list. I do NOT search things like "go to the park and play with your dog", because I simply have a bad character and need to destroy things once in a while.
If you know other obsessive activities to blank your brain. Please write down for inspiration. ;)
Many people do not realize, that after they meet a "goal" they actually have a loss in their life.A,A They have lost that goal.A,A It has been met.A,A It is gone.A,A That could possibly be the "dull" period you are speaking of. Instead of avoiding this "dull" period, and running from it, may I suggest you take some time and mourn the loss of that goal.A,A Journal about it.A,A Than, start looking for another goal to make in your life.A,A Now what would you like to do?A,A What needs to be done? If you need to learn more about "loss and mourning", may I suggest you read "How to Survive the Loss of a Love". I hope this helps.... Liz

Sleeping helps me blank out my brain, but the brain never ever really reaches the point where it can be blanked-out. Without our brain functioning 24/7/365 we would die. That being said, I am really glad you have stopped taking drugs. I took drugs to escape reality for over 35 years. Now I am done with that part of my life and I have been clean 5 1/2 years. You might want to consider that alcohol is a drug and quit drinking, especially to excess. An important tool which I have used A LOT, is remembering that "This too shall pass!" This is important to remember during a time of stress or unmanageably but also remembering that the good times will also surely pass. We need the dull periods just as much as the exciting ones. Just like the living Earth needs the absence of sunlight as well as the warmth and life-giving rays of the daylight.

Thanks for the warm replies, you are right that dull periods pass too. Yet it's hard for an impulsive kid like me. This time I got rid of the restlessness by a 15 hour nap, hardcore kickboxing and a chat with a hyperactive girl. For a strange reason I feel more relaxed when im around annoying speedy people. And a tanning bed seems to help well. :)
