i'm not doing this to be mean but i'm tierd of people always blaming game companies for what they done to people. Its your fault if you get addicted to it and not the company who made the game in the first place. I'm reading some of these topics and some of you are saying WoW is evil and it corrupts others. I played Everquest for 4 yrs and Wow for 2 yrs and x box live but i forgot how many yrs i played it but i always get real life stuff done. All i'm saying is stop blaming game companies for your problem if you read the warning they actualy tell you might get addicted to it like the Wow the warning has.

I think you might want to read into what the twelve steps are all about. They're not about blaming anyone else for one's own personal choices and the consequences of those choices. They are about taking personal responsibiity for those choices, and following with growth and eventually outreach. If you can find a location where our organization blames games, I'll be unpleasantly surprised. So please, enjoy your gaming. I sincerely hope you never need recovery, most people don't. Have a nice day. :|
Leveling in Real Life
I accomplished a lot too while playing games...but it also took a lot of things away from me, that I regret to this day. I dont think most here bash games, I think some are angry at them for what they have done to thier lives, as in mine. I think there is a difference. I dont blame the truck driver who delivers a game. I dont blame the developer, most developers I personally know dont even play games actually...and for the companies, its like any other buissness model...to make money, not caring much about the users. We find this mentality in may items for sale, as with items that are illegal. Its life...but to some, very fustrating to see the damage it casues in familis, not to mention society..., I think its a great thing WOW posts a warning label, to make users aware. But do you think, its a label to get more buissness? A marketing ploy? I wonder.

I agree with Gamingkrib in that many are angry at games for what they have done to their lives. I think ultimately, part of the healing process deals with coming to grips with that fact and the role we played, accepting responsibility for the mess we've gotten ourselves into. But this also serves to empower us and help us realize that there is hope and that we can start getting help when we are ready and willing to accept it. I hope you can always maintain that balance in your life and not go through what we've been through. But consider that anger, whether real or misplaced is just part of the healing process. Ron

If you want to get technical, I would say that Lord of the Rings Online corrupted me, but not in the sense of how we use the word. It took something away from me and I only blame myself. I allowed it to happen. I don't blame the game, I blame myself. Quite honestly, I've not seen that many "Games... Evil..." posts. Are you sure you aren't just seeing 3 or 4 out of the thousands of posts on this site and just mad because there are a few game bashers? A lot of us are very emotional and those just starting to recover or, recently realizing their addiction, are going to be emotional. Xandtar has made the most important point. Look at the 12 steps and you will see that all "blame" is placed on the addict: Step 5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs. Step 7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings
