Guess what I found a work?
A couple of cd's for Dark Ages of Camelot, in the commons area, with a note on them, that said:
Free seven day trial CD's. Take one if interested. For more
information about the game go to: www.dc.com
I don't know who put them there. I would like to talk to them.
Also, I now have these CD's and am bringing them home and breaking them into our "bowl of broken cd's".
I figured it was fate that allowed me to get my hands on this little gift. So I took it.

Well I am not sure what to think about that.
They were left for someone who would be interested in playing the game I would have assumed, and not for someone who would not be. I just don't know what to think about that. Seems a little underhanded.
Also isn't taking these cd's to add to the bowl kind of padding the bowl? They weren't used by anyone for a gaming experience or even what you would call an addiction. You may as well just get a 100 blank cd spindle and write the names of all the MMORPG's on them and break them into the bowl if you are doing this.
Why would the person put the CD's there, unless they were looking to bring others into the game, so they would have more people involved.
Without others in the games, there would be no games.
It is a very smart angle, for the gaming companies to take - to get more people playing - peer pressure - so they can make more money off of their customers.
Perhaps, by me taking those CD's, I am saving someone from getting addicted to the game, and ruining their life.

with no games of any kind we wouldn't be human
but thats beside the point....while I can understand the answer to an extent..you still have not said if it is padding the bowl.
Some games are designed to be way more addictive than others.
I won't break the CD's, I will just put them in there.

It is 'padding' the bowl, I think.
But ultimately, the important thing isn't whether or not the bowl is filled anymore. It's whether or not someone is willing to make that commitment to give up his CDs. Sure, he could just make copies and send the originals in, but there is that psychological connection to the CDs themselves and what giving up those CDs implies, whether or not spares are available.
When I was playing heavily, sure I could have made copies of the CDs. Even with perfect copies, I would not have been willing to break or give up my originals. I think doing so is a step in the right direction for someone who 'wants' to make a change.

Do you go around at conventions and get togethers and throw out all the free drinks, too?
No. I am not privileged enough to go to conventions where free drinks are served.

Okay, so as long as someone pays to try it out, it's okay.
Jharen,
Nice to see you are still here!
By the way, you have been promoted! You have hit 200 posts.
Congratulations!
Thanks for keep coming back...
(I am still waiting for your CD's!)

You would've been better off making a little card and writing 'www.olganon.org' on it, and setting it on top of the stack of CD's.
Taking them probably didn't accomplish very much.
... and you'll be waiting...
