A Request for Help...

Well, it's time to ask you gamers for help...

As most of you know, Liz's 21 year old son Shawn, shot himself on Thankgiving in 2001.

Irregardless of the cause, to this day Liz still has no idea what the final straw was that made him pull the trigger that day. We do have some clues, and believe that it had something to do with an in-game relationship gone bad, but nothing else.

I flew up to visit Liz a couple months ago, to meet her and her family and to spend a few days going through Shawn's PC looking for any clues which could answer the question of 'Why.'

I sorted through his EQ directory, there were no log files, I sifted through every folder, every cache file, every email, everything I could find that might point give some clues, but could come up with nothing.

While I was there, we even worked with John Smedley, COO of Sony Online Entertainment and at 1am on Sunday morning, John had them restore most of Shawn's deleted characters from tape. We went through each of his characters looking for clues, but again, could not come up with anything solid.

So here is what we need.

I will put together his list of character names and servers and post them here in hopes that one of you might have known him, or in hopes that you might know someone who knew him.

We do know that his play was almost exclusively on Vallon Zek and we do know one of his guild names he was in. That will be posted as well.

Folks, if you can put aside all the differences here for a bit, just consider that for whatever reason, Liz's son cut off all contact with his family for the last six months of his life and on one of those days when family should be together, Liz had to force enter his apartment and found him after it was too late. She, like any parent, just wants to find out what happened and what he was like his last few months so she can find some closure to this whole tragedy.

If any of you have any extensive time on Vallon Zek, or know someone else who does, please check back to this post within this next week for the details.
