Ya know...

I think it is pretty crappy that you guys have this really nice message board where you can all gather and wipe anothers' tears about your weaknesses, when there are in fact people who are addicted to online games that lead perfectly normal lives with no negative response from the gaming.

I am not saying I am one of those people at all, but the least your pompous Admins can do is add a thread where those people can post their success stories, I mean it's only fair.

Unless you want to be unfair and one sided, then that's cool, but at least reply to this post with an admittance to it.

Some gamers actually work 40 hours a week, come home, do yardwork, pay bills, clean their houses, make dinners then spend the next 5 hours online doing something that brings them joy. I have made at least 5 friends that I will never lose touch with, game or no game, that I care for, and that I would have never met without gaming.

I do however agree with you on the subject of people with children that put too much time into games, I don't have kids, so that's not my issue, it's theirs.

I remember reading a letter from a lady who had a young child, like 12 or so with a brain tumor. He was so sick that he couldn't get out of bed. His days were numbered. He would sit up every night for hours and play Everquest and his mother expressed how much laughter she would hear from the other side of his door. It was a great comfort to her that his last few months he had something to make him laugh and a place where no one knew he was sick, he was just like everyone else. She was thankful.

Are there weak people out there that make a bad choice and choose an online game over family and daily duties? Yes.

But don't forget there are plenty of people that spend WAY too much time online gaming that actually get stuff done, and lead normal lives, work and raise great kids. Your shut-door policy on these boards for those people sucks.

Why don't you pick on people who watch 5-7 hours of television a night or parents that spend 70 hours a week working a job, it's the same thing.

And I don't want to hear you mother's blaming EQ for your child's suicides anymore. If your kid takes his own life, chances are there was a lot more going on there. Sad, but true.

It's easy to blame the game, but don't forget you control yourselves no matter what.

Open your minds people, let some of the gamers who do it and are just fine have a thread of their own.

Re: Ya know...

That was an excellent post Kit. Reminded me of a good friend I made on line.

Very sweet 80 something lady. She broke her hip and thought she was simply going to waste away in the nursing home. Her mobility gone she was depressed. her son and grandson who are avid EQ players got her a computer and installed EQ.

Her words "suddenly I could run and dance and have fun again". Now she has since gotten hip replacement surgery, the Dr. credits her rapid recovery to her improved attitude. She has becoem a fighter, in fact one of the best warriors I know in Norrath. And she has something she shares with her family. While she was in the nursing home she was on-line about 15 hours a day.

Too bad every grandma in a nursing home can't have EQ to bring a lil light back into their life.

She can't play EQ 15 hours a day anymore..now that she found part time job and is back on her feet. Something she had been told would probably never happen.

For Chist's sake...

Millions of people play online games, a few have problems and online gaming is blamed... It is sad that people's lives suck enough to where they kill themselves, but they would of done it with, or without the video games they play. Where's all the other suicidal gamers that this website seems to talk about??Like I said, it is very sad when people take their own lives, but to point the fingure at something enjoyed by millions of people that live normal, happy , lives, is just stupid. But why blame video games?? Why not blame music?? Or blame T.V. shows?? Video games, Music, and T.V. shows have 1 big thing in common.. It's entertainment! How can entertainment cause people to feel so bad that they kill themselves?? Isn't that the exact oposite of entertainment?? Ok hold the phone for a minute.. Lets say it was Video games, lets say Video games were the cause of these people's suicides, then it would have to be something wrong with them, and not really the game itself. There would have to be something mentally wrong with them to kill themselves over a game. Entertainment is not the cause for stuff like this, considering that millions of people play them and they're fine the way they are. This reminds me of when some kid killed himself, and he happend to be a fan of Ozzy Osbourne, and the kid's parents blame Ozzy because be wrote a song called "Suicide Solution". It's just stupid really. I think there's a time when people need to realize that their kids have minds of their own and can think for themselves, as apose to "Monkey see, Monkey do" that an awfal lot of people seem to think kids think.

Quote:Instead of closing threads that you alone disagree with, why don't you debate back, thinking and disscussing is not that hard to do, and I think you will find in the end, that the debates (the heart to heart ones) will help you, not hinder you.I stated in another post-usually, we do NOT move posts, or delete.

Just in the past few days, our site was posted on a gamers board, and they all decided to come in here, and create havoc with us.

We are getting things back in order, but it has been a rough road, the past few days.

Please keep coming back, and sharing. After it calms down, you will see this board as it was meant to be.

Re: Kit of Vals

So where is the flame board here? Oh yeah, where can a guy get a pack of smokes, a case of beer, some pot, and a bunch of online video games? I need my fix.
