The fairly brief article, at http://www.pcauthority.com.au/...">http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/125080,sony-microsoft-begin-battle-of..., says that:
Quote:The console kids both announced Second Life-style virtual environments at the Tokyo Game Show today. Both games show striking similarities to Linden Lab's creation
Players are represented by avatars which live a virtual life - engaging in relationships, going about day-to-day business. These can be personalised to look as similar (or different) to how the user looks in real life.
Considering the games market, money and other resources that these two companies have at their disposal, I am concerned about this latest development. I am not familiar with the details of Second Life but I suspect that these 2 new "games" will feature improved graphics, and other advanced features, that will make them very addictive to those people who are susceptible.

Warning Dangerous post ,that can lead to wanting to replace secondlife gaming problem with exploring console games that are similiar.
As I predicted long ago, its a niche that covers so many people who don't think of it as a "game", and therein draws in a whole new market that will at least rival if not surpass the more traditional multiuser gamers in sheer numbers. This is just confirmation of how big that niche really is.
Leveling in Real Life
You are so very right Xandtar, I was unaware that there were other such games and although I do have a game console in my home I don't play it and limit my childrens time on it ( somthing I had a hard time doing for myself on the computer) and when I saw this my first thought was " ooooh what is this " and I ran through all the "buts" in my mind until I realized why would I even want to get near any thing that equates to secondlife now that reallife is so much better for me .
