Video: Escapist Magazine on Gaming Addiction

Good video and a good site.

Good video and a good site. Thanks! The man talking about feeling love from other gamers beginning at 1:43 made me feel real sadness and disgust at what the games can do to people emotionally.

Thanx again for a good share

Thanx again for a good share Brad....yeah i agree Serena, i know i was trapped in that kind of thinking while i played looking at all those other pixels with titles and achievements walking around and people cheering them on, and me thinking gee i wish i could obtain that or get that.

Another great share, bgh,

Another great share, bgh, esp since I would never "find" this on my own, PTL!

I really appreciate 2 of the guys who commented in the conclusion and seemed to have more of a handle on their personal gaming situations. (Although one of them was more realistically insightful because he had actually realized and admitted that he was powerless in regard to his online gambling and gaming.)

A couple of my favorite quotes (approx) were these:

"You need to come to a place where you step back and really think, like really think, and honestly ask yourself; "Where is this continued gaming going to take me?"

"I realized as I was playing, "****! I am just like one of those rats in the psych experiment that keeps pressing the button over and over again to get the little piece of food or an electric shock or whatever is pleasurable for a rat."

"Just be careful...Be careful, man. It's a treacherous road that you take when you step into those kinds of games."

Much food for thought!

ALL quoted text (unless otherwise stated) comes from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous (with wording sometimes changed only to make it more relevant for gaming addiction). I will include page numbers.

Hoping & praying for a measure of recovery for all of us today.

Great video, I can remember

Great video, I can remember walking around Orgrimarr and thinking wow I just got this great weapon/gear/title only to find tons of other ppl had the same thing or better lol. Fiction Badass can't think of a better title than that, at least for WoW. It's the truth...like most MMO's "He/She who plays the longest, has the best gear", Games like WoW really don't take much skill at all, you get your classes rotation and rinse and repeat, and like the guy said in the video, your just the rat in the maze pushing a button to get the cheese.
