Study of MMORPG's

A recent study of MMORPG's has been done and provides many interviews with players. It's pretty interesting, check it out at www.nickyee.com/mosaic/home.html

Re: Study of MMORPG's

Yeah, Thanks, Orniter.

This was the website that NBC used for their addiction data on the story they did on Shawn. I had to play that news clip over like 10 times before I could finally read the small print that had the nickyee website on it.

The results are pretty compelling although probably a bit skewed. While the questions are subjective, since each person is answering based on what they believe the word "addiction" means, I'm sure that actual numbers of clinically addicted people are quite high.

One of the things we can work towards with OLG-Anon is establishing a true protocol and screening test to help make the determination as to whether or not someone is actually "addicted" in the true psychological sense of the word.

As Liz works her magic and we can start partnering with physicians and psychologists, then we can actually start making this stuff.

I was thinking that Diggo,

I was thinking that Diggo, but didn't really want to mention it. Yes, the site seems like it was researched and designed by an on-line gamer. It does have some interesting stories written by individual gamers and x-gamers, but it has a heavy leaning towards pro-"virtual life".

Although very interesting to read and a nicely done website, it is sort of the MMORPG equivelant to doing a study on narcotics by interviewing only marajuana smokers, and comming to a conclusion that narcotics are great.
