Parents be aware: Saturday is National Gaming Day @ Your Library

So, you think your child is going to the library to study? Read on...

Saturday is National Gaming Day @ Your Library
November 10, 2008
Books?

Who needs books at a library?

This Saturday is gaming day in the stacks, baby.

That's because the American Library Association has declared November 15th to be the first-ever National Gaming Day @ Your Library Day. Libraries across the country (some more than others, certainly) will celebrate the fun and educational benefits of video and board games.

In addition to online gaming events, Wizards of the Coast has donated copies of D&D as well as Magic the Gathering to libraries so that they may run local tournaments.

Whats wrong with board games

Whats wrong with board games at the library?

This is informational only.

This is informational only. Board games are fine, too. I thought libraries were a peaceful place to go to check out or read BOOKS, gather information, do research and learn, not a gaming cafe.

I have to agree with Liz.

I have to agree with Liz. While some games do have educational and cultural value, I donaEU(tm)t really see why they would be played in a library simply because of the noise issue. I mean, when I was writing my thesis in university, I had to go to the library (because I had noisy roommates, etc). It was the only place I could do my homework some days because I have a hard time focusing on heavy material with a lot of noise. I had roommates who never shut off the TV or video game consoles. I would have been annoyed to not get away from video game noises at a library - of all places.

Until we are tested, how do we know if we will pass?

This is a good opp to get

This is a good opp to get the msg of prevention and a place for people to go if they need help..Ask the American Library Association to give out your pamplets you are creating from self supporting donations, as does other 12 step groups reacing out to libaries, schools, and select groups. This is one reason why it is so important to make donations here...

Be Good to yourself! Rule #62: "Don't take yourself too **** seriously! " 12x12 Book And dont forget to donate... Donate
