Now that you aren't playing you may have extra time. Hehehe. You could use some of that to get back into real life, but you may want to use some of it for recovery activities. Here are some videos and audio files that have helped me:
1. Here's a talk which will help you understand the disease of addiction. It helped me a lot, from the beginning:
Go to www.mediafire.com/dailyreprieve
Go into the folder labeled "AA Talks"
Look for the folder "Disease Model of Addiction"
There are two mp3's, Part I and Part II, one hour each.
Don't let the time keep you from it: It's one of the best and clearest lectures I've ever heard
2. You Tube talks by Dr. Gabor Mate. The first one is called "Brain Development and Addiction; it's an hour. The second is a nice starter: 30 minute TV interview on addiction.

3. This one actually lists a series of 9 talks by the same guy up in #1. It's an alternative to #1, if you only want to spend about 40 minutes rather than a couple of hours:

4. There are lots of AA talks on You Tube. They are really audios (the video is just the AA symbol). They are good. For a start, try Earl H. or Lilly L. As always on You Tube, once you see one, it takes you to others....

I am a recovering computer game and gambling addict. My recovery birthday: On May 6, 2012 I quit games and began working a program of recovery through OLGA No computer games or slot games for me since December 12, 2012. No solitaire games with real cards since June 2013.
dan1, a BIG thank you! Finally I finished listening the first two talks by Dr Kevin McCauley and you are absolutely right!Yes It's one of the best and clearest lectures I've ever heard .
It takes about two hours to finish it but it was well worth it. I am going to continue with the second one on the list.
It is so nice of you to share the links with us. Thank you again.
Hugs!

Thank you again dan1! I just finished watching Dr Gabor Mate's videos. In total it takes about one and a half hour but I highly recommend it. So much to learn and understand. He links the addictive tendencies with the amount of stress baby is exposed during the first a few years of his/her life. If the mother is stressed or depressed, the baby picks it up and stresses as well. And it affects the development of the baby's brain adversely, leading to the susceptility to addiction.
