Hello, I'd like to draw your attention towards a book called "Boys adrift" by dr. Leonard Sax, 2007.
The book is essentially an explanation of why boys are less interested in school and more interested in video games and provides solid tips and examples to helping them quit, often replacing video games with a real life activity.
I totally recommend the book for your young boys, though it may help you understand the greater trend of boys losing motivation in school pursuits, as well.
It's not a video gaming addiction book per se, but it has whole chapters dedicated to this. As I said before, video games are just a symptom of a greater problem, the book is mostly about solving the greater problem.
If you play video games, turn them off once in a while and rejoin life. Some of us here like you, don't ask me why.
Looks like a very good book. Has anyone read it? What about the companion book by the same author: Girls on the Edge?
If anyone has a view or review on either of these can you please post? I would like to hear before I shell out $75 for reading during my vacation in August.

I just bought the Boy book for Kindle. Will read and let you know.
I read it quite awhile ago. Another mom posted about it here:

It was a very interesting book and well worth reading. Dr. Sax has some very interesting theories. His theories about the feminizing effects of some plastic chemical breakdown products are particularly interesting. His views on single gender education may not be exactly politically correct, but they make sense.

Protects the lingering dewdrop from the sun." -------William Wordsworth
Definitely enjoying this book, and bought the other two. :)
Could you tell us more about it Patricia? It sounds interesting.
It's been awhile, I'll have to go back and refresh my memory.
