Depression caused by the negative thoughts trap.

Hi Olga

After Bipolar and the Dysthymia topic I want to add a 3rd one I think many people here suffer from. The negative thoughts trap what eventualy leads to depressed thoughts and can turn to live its own life.

Most ex gamers are like swimmers with chains around them. We get to the other side but with far more effort and we always fear the chains may drown us.

In our minds while we have plenty activities like work we thrive. The problems starts when we have no or less activities. Negative thoughts spirals then take over and we consider them as natural. We may think I wont be able to live through a day with no gaming or job, or my life is useless now. And I feel uselss, or I am useless when I dont have a clear goal in life., or nothing makes sense.

These thought do become a natural way of thinking in the end, for us,.But they are not natural at all. In old psychology people thought that optismistic thinking was wrong, but moderen psychology will do the opposite.

What you need to do is you are between Dystymia and negative thinking is considering when you are not able to break free, to start psychotherapy. There is no scientific evidence how this works inside the brains but scientists all agree it does work as 90% really gets better in a few weeks.

Anti depressants are mist successful for fear and anciety surpression but may only work as people believe in them to work. The same works fro Relegion. truly religios people feel really good as thir fate lifts there moods and in weelks they feel to start better, as religion works as psychotherapy. Only the therapy will look into the fears on the indiviudal, or thought pattern, and will also work for more rational people who believe or not believe, but not in fullest extent.

Also Yoga works as the less I meditate..the harder it gets.

Gaming does not heal in the full contest of feeling better. Yes gaming makes us feel better but that is by creating an activty so we do not think..

p.s.: I do not want to compare faith with anti depressants. Iis the other wy around., Anti depressants can work simular to faith. By believing in them people will get better.. But people who have very strong fears or panic attacks and nothing works..dont hesitate to take them, as they can bridge a hard life to a more managable one.

Always use anti depressants cllose supervised by doctor or psychiater as hympmania or Manic episodes can concur when you dont need them. (and you can do inane things then)

I hope this helps. My therapy starts tomorrow but I am already trying to attack or get upset on negative thoughts..and started yoga again.

you could also try to create a thought journal. Write down if you feel anger, sad, happy or fea, what happened before, and how strong that feeling is...and then try to figure how rational the thought is and what could you think instead..But please try to find a psych that is covered in your insurance and dont stay at home. You will get better, but it can take 3 years or some months...depending the effort you put in(according my sources)

Much love from me. Here is

Much love from me.

Here is the post about thoughts, amazing!

I 'discovered' something surprisingly profound in your post, and here it is.

You reap what is sown!

Yes negative thoughts sown does reap depression for many.

The power of the brain is amazing, and the control of the subconscious brain over the body is unbelievable!

I see you mention something that I have been told is the 'placebo' effect.

Essentially you believe something to be true, so your body makes it true.

For example a sugar pill can cure diseases, even though sugar has no inherent advantage.

The conscious thought backed by belief solved a lot of problems!

But alass the reverse is true. People can develop diseases when they think they have them!

Our brains have more power over our bodies then we could ever imagine.

This is not to slight science or take away from the power of medicine for healing.

I think you're headed in a good direction: religion, pills, therapy whichever placebo works for you go with it.

Oh hello down there.

I'm sorry, it seems that I got on a high horse.

Good luck Eve.

Skopos.  Thanks ofor the

Skopos.

Thanks ofor the support

Plecebos work against depression what is 100% true. And people believing in Anti depressants..yep for them it really works as well :) Its too true. Same for religion. But true believers feel the benefit of the gospel. Its how they are..truly blessed.

Anti depressants work. They supress panic extremely affective. And panic attacks can make fear dominating..What I experienced. i I dont talk about a bit of panic, but panic attacks striking for 90 minutes long..what is exhausting. Many people who are controlled by these attack must try Anti depressants as that is what these pills are good at.

Some people have fear, other anger, and other sadness as their dominant emotions. The trick is too reason them back to the correct proportions. But if an emotion has become too strong ..it can become part of life without even noticing it. About 5 to 20% of all people is extremely sensitive ..and I think there is one belief that needs to be fixed first.

Belief in ourselves..recognize emotions, recognize and know thoughts. and understand how thoughts lead to reactions. Meditation ( non religious works - mindfullness works, and therapist can teach us how to think in line.) That last part I am learning now too.

We are born with pityfull brains that need to evolve. Not only science, lust and greed as our western economy preaches, but also emotion, spirituality (feeling part of a bigger world) power of the mind, what our government doesnt want us to learn..as in School we only learn NOT TO BE OURSELVES!!!!...Amerca, Europe...its all the same...

So we need to evolve through live. And to learn and become stronger, and mind..all what does not take you down...makes us stronger..I am battling 41 years and I start to understand it now.

Now get of your horse so we can talk face to face ..I appreciate your comments, Skopos. You seem to do very well

Skopos and EVE--both right,

Skopos and EVE--both right, in my view. Drugs do things without people believing in them. And belief does things even if the drug is not a drug and has no effects. And people help other people regardles of these other things. Many things help. All true.

And science has shown that our mental state affects our bodies. This happens in many ways.

Off to think some positive thoughts and take my meds. Thanks to you both! :)

I am a recovering computer game and gambling addict. My recovery birthday: On May 6, 2012 I quit games and began working a program of recovery through OLGA No computer games or slot games for me since December 12, 2012. No solitaire games with real cards since June 2013.

we need our meds to remain

we need our meds to remain stable...but thats the world we live in...Without meds I could live a medieval life in a monestary without problem. But in 21st life where we are all in the midle of everything..people who miss the filters, or have imbalanced hormones...need meds.

Most meds regulate - what is not making happy :) Happiness must come from within...But by medidating or prayer or believing that happiness will come. Its when you repeat happy thoughts often, they start to come by itself...same for love...but also same for negative thoughts.

Meds that regulate makes us able to be happy. But then its up tp us to remain thinking positive so that nerves and brainconnections become more dominant over the negative thoughts.

I liked the suggestion about

I liked the suggestion about the journal...I have lots of notebooks around here (always trying to find inspiration for my writing!), and I believe that I will use one of them, starting today, as a gaming-journal of sorts. Not for logging in when I've gamed, etc...But for writing down, times, dates, etc...and specifically the feelings behind when I want to game.

Maybe through doing that I can come to understand a few more things about myself...Thank you for the wonderful suggestion!

Gaming...it's what I do...But it's not who I am....And that line is blurred.
